Here rides the bittern
Snatching feet
A needle spire
For a beak
It twists above us
And breaks the current
Then when it disappears
Its step you cannot hear
Among the reeds
Wild Muses
Here rides the bittern
Snatching feet
A needle spire
For a beak
It twists above us
And breaks the current
Then when it disappears
Its step you cannot hear
Among the reeds
What an amazing shot of this bird. Love the imagery in your words too. One of the birds I would love to see and hear one day 🙂

Thanks Sandra. I’ve only ever seen flashes of them before as they do spend so much time skulking in the reeds and are masters of blending in. Was quite breathtaking to have one fly right over.
